Corzine policy feeds urban dependency

To the Editor:

An animal eats poison because it looks like food. If he thought like a human, he might even say to himself, “I really appreciate these kind people who provide for me like this.”
On recent visits to the City of Camden, I couldn’t help noticing that in the most devastated areas of the city, there are only “Jon Corzine” signs for the upcoming election.
It was then that the analogy struck me. The poison is dependency on government.
There is healthy dependency: on God, family and neighbors, because that involves relationship, responsibility and accountability. This can truly help people improve their lot.
Government dependency involves none of the above, and I believe it is the most pernicious form of slavery, since physical slavery only enslaves the physical.
In short, Gov. Jon Corzine and company have, for years, been “buying” the votes of inner city folks all over this country, while the inner cities continue to steadily decay from this poisonous prescription.
